Organic Waste in Takakura Home Method ( Keranjang Takakura )

Takakura is a way of processing organic waste from Koji Takakura research results who come from Japan. Research carried in Surabaya, which is a cooperation with Kitakyushu city in Japan aims to find ways how to process local waste.
All we need 
A basket which have small holes for air circulation, 2 bricks, chaff, stocking, old box, compost, organic waste, the rest of the cooked rice/fish/chicken/egg shells etc.The rest of the vegetables (the rest of the vegetables is not stale. But when it becomes stale, wash the vegetables in advance, squeeze, and discard the water, similarly for vegetables which containing coconut milk. Waste from the fruit (avoid pushing a hard rind like a leather bow)



        How to make
        • prepare the basket and put the bricks under the basket so that the air flow remains smooth. Place the basket in a cool place or places that are not affected rain and the sun's heat directly.
        • Enter the chaff into a container such as stockings and put into the basket. It will absorb water, reduce smell and control air for the microbes thrive. 
        • Insert the box into the basket, above the chaff, to accommodate the organic waste that wants to be composted
        •  Fill the box with compost approximately 5 cm thick. Compost as a starter in composting process because its containing microbes.
        • Put the organic waste that will be composted. Before put into the basket, waste should be cut into small pieces the size of 2 cm x 2 cm. The smaller size will make composting process faster. If too wet, add more chaff or sawdust sawn.
        •  Stir every finished putting waste that will be composted. If necessary add a layer of finished compost. In order for an orange flavored compost, you can add orange peel into the basket.
        • To ensure the composting process is running, put our hands 2 cm in compost. When you feel warm, you can bet the composting process works well. If not, sprinkle a little water so that the micro-organisms work. It could be that the compost is too dry and thus require water. Do this activity over and over for 40-60 days. waste that has become compost will be colored black, odorless and does not tarnish.

        Notes
        •  The basket can contain waste produced by a family that have seven members. Waste can be processed a maximum of 1.5 kg per day. Fewer waste make the composting faster.
        • When the compost at the Basket Takakura was full, we take 1/3 and brown for a week in a place that is not exposed to direct sunlight. The remaining 2 / 3 we can use again as a starter for next composting process
